PFP Seeks Saturday Distribution Coordinator
Position: Saturday Distribution Coordinator
Work with: PFP Farm Manager, Farm Interns, and PFP shareholders, including a PFP shareholder assisting in the distribution week each week.

Function: The Distribution Coordinator ensures a welcoming and smooth distribution pick-up for Poughkeepsie Farm Project’s CSA participants.
Compensation: The individual taking on this position receives a full standard share in recognition of their important contributions to the PFP and is not required to fulfill the separate 12 hour shareholder field work commitment. As with all shareholders, we do request that this position become a member of the PFP if he or she is not already one by making a contribution, annually, to the PFP in the amount of your choosing ($25 or more).
Expectations of time spent: Four hours a week during the CSA distribution season (last week of May through mid-November).
Responsibilities:
• Attend the distribution room during Saturday distribution from 9 am- 1pm from late May through early November (approximately 24 weeks).
• Welcome new and returning shareholders and help to foster a sense of community at the Poughkeepsie Farm Project.
• Help to set up the room (weigh, arrange and label vegetables).
• Keep the vegetable bins consolidated and the distribution area tidy during distribution.
• Make sure that shareholders are aware of CSA protocols (such as signing in each week and weighing their vegetables where indicated) and availability and location of pick your own crops.
• Help pass on PFP communications such as newsletters and information about special events.
• Orient the shareholder signed up each week as an assistant in the distribution room as needed.
• Make sure someone (whether it be yourself, the distribution assistant, or staff) is assigned to product sales. Ensure an attractive layout of products, accurate recordkeeping and security of the cash box.
• Be available for questions. Pass questions on to the Farm Manager where needed.
• Towards the end of distribution, clean up/close up the distribution room, including sweeping the shelves and floor, and helping to pack up vegetable donations for the soup kitchen.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Friendly and enjoy meeting people
• Good judgment, communication skills and ability to work with diverse people
• Have (or are willing to develop) a good understanding of the Poughkeepsie Farm Project and the CSA to accurately answer questions of members and visitors.
• Able to keep a weekly commitment for the five and a half month growing season (two or three pre-arranged absences are acceptable).
