Seasonal Skill Shares

What is a Skill Share?

[skil-shair] noun
An event where amateurs and experts, enthusiasts and those who are just curious, can gather together in a friendly open environment to share their stories and experiences, and join in a community discussion on topics of interest.

The Skill Share format starts by drawing on the knowledge of a few resource persons (who meet in advance to coordinate the information with which they "seed" the conversation), and moves to facilitating a discussion that draws in the knowledge, skills and experience of all the participants.

How can I participate in one?

Our 2012 series on food and gardening topics is planned in partnership with the Fall Kill Partnership Gardens and will include:

Plant Care – 6/10: organic fertilizer, watering and mulching
Cooking with Fresh Produce – 7/8: includes recipe exchange
Food Preservation – 8/12: pickling, canning, freezing, lacto-fermentation
Season Extension – 9/9
Garden Planning – 10/14

Currently, we are seeking people to serve as resource persons on these topics.  Stay tuned for further participation details.
