Soup-A-Bowl 2010 Tickets Now Available ~ don’t miss the 3rd Annual Poughkeepsie Celebration of Food and Art!

For the first time, you can get your tickets online: http://farmproject.org/content/soup-bowl-2010

Soup-A-Bowl features:

Fresh, homemade soups from local restaurants!
Beautiful hand-crafted pottery from local artisans!
Lively music from:
· Deane/Redmond - from last year's Susie Deane and the Deane Machine back!
· The Roundabout Ramblers - a Soup-A-Bowl debut!

This popular luncheon, held on the banks of the Hudson River at the Mid-Hudson Childrens' Museum Pavilion and featuring local soup, pottery and live music, will be held on September 11th from 12:00 to 2:30! Fresh, homemade soup, bread and iced tea are served alongside a wide assortment of handcrafted pottery. A tea cup raffle features more local food and artwork. Join us in celebrating local food, art and community while supporting programs that provide low income families with tons of fresh food each year and life changing experiences learning about food and farming.

An event ticket includes a generous soup lunch and a bowl of pottery to take home. Guests will be limited to the number of pottery bowls available - consider buying your tickets today! There are two kinds of tickets available for purchase online ( at http://farmproject.org/content/soup-bowl-2010 ), at the Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers’ Market on Fridays between 10 am and 2 pm or at PFP CSA distributions on Tuesdays between 4 and 7 pm and Saturdays between 9:30 and 12:30.

For additional ways to get involved with this wonderful community event, please read on:

PUBLICITY:
~Are you out and about a lot, going to different businesses and public places? We have lovely posters and postcards, designed by paper cut artist Rick Jones and printed by Main Printing, that are looking for homes out in the community! Stop by the PFP office to get as many as you can use!
~Do you live in or regularly pass by a visible location? We have lawn signs this year! We are seeking lawn sign sponsor/hosts who will:
1) Pay $10 to the PFP and receive a lawn sign – the $10 goes toward the price of your ticket (and helps us keep event costs low and program support high)
2) Place the sign in your front yard or another visible place that you pass by regularly and keep a watch over it
3) If the sign lasts until the event, return the sign to the PFP to adjust the date and reuse next year
4) Contact Sarah Lee at leesarahs@yahoo.com or 485-9829 to find out how to secure your sign

POTTERY:
We have a lot of bowls lined up for Soup-A-Bowl 2010, but we still need more! If you have any kind of skills to make bowls, there will be PFP Pottery Parties at Barrett ClayWorks every Tuesday in August (starting the 10th) and September between 4:00-10:00 pm! Practice your skills, meet new people, join the fun! (Please note: Barrett ClayWorks, our non-profit partner, has generously agreed to waive the Open Studio fees for all volunteers who come out to make bowls for Soup-A-Bowl and thanks to PFP sponsors, the expenses for clay and firing will be covered as well, so there is no cost to participate! You are also welcome to attend another Open Studio time that may fit your schedule better: Monday 3:30-5:30pm, Wednesday 2:00-5:00 pm, Thursday 3:00-8:00 pm, Friday 1:00-4:00 pm, Saturday 10:00am-1:00pm, Sunday 1:00-4:00 pm). Contact Lia Harris at harrisc@caryinstitute.org or 242-0203 with your questions.

RAFFLE DONATIONS:
We are looking for donations of local handmade Arts, Crafts or Food items valued at less than $100. This is a great way to share your skills and bring recognition to your craft while supporting the PFP! Contact Rebecca Wisniewski at rwisnski@verizon.net or 462-3495 for more details or to donate.

DAY OF VOLUNTEERING:
We have a number of volunteer opportunities the day of the event…volunteers who commit to a two hour shift eat for free (or pay $10 if they also want a pottery bowl). We especially need people who can help guests with parking! Contact Rick Jones at ricjones@vassar.edu or 702-6412 if you want to get involved.

We look forward to seeing you on the 11th!
