Invitation for Local Businesses
We are pleased to be able to offer marketing opportunities to our local business partners whose support helps us continue our programs that benefit thousands of people in Poughkeepsie and beyond. Sponsorships help us to make more than 25% of the nearly 60 tons of produce we grow available to low-income members of our community and to use our working farm as a resource for hands-on learning experiences about the importance of choices about food for our health, our community and our environment.
PFP members (hundreds of families), event participants (thousands of individuals), partners, and the general public associate our business partners with the significant, positive difference in the lives of many people who participate in our food access and educational programs:
- Food Share, which improves access to fresh, healthy food in Poughkeepsie in a variety of ways, including donations of tons of food to people in need through Poughkeepsie’s soup kitchens, food banks and shelters.
- Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers’ Market, which turns the scarcity of fresh food in the City of Poughkeepsie (where there is no supermarket) into bounty each Friday for downtown residents, employees and business owners alike. Market events create positive community interaction and an attractive atmosphere.
- City Seeds, which provides opportunities for youth to engage in meaningful, skill-building employment (at the farm, farmers’ market and in the community) while learning to grow food, save seeds, and make a difference in their communities.
- Community Education, in which our working farm serves as a resource for learning experiences for a wide diversity of individuals and groups in the community.
Sponsorships are recognized in connection with the public events we will hold:
- Soup-a-Bowl, an annual Poughkeepsie celebration of food and art and benefit luncheon held in September of each year and enjoyed by some 250 community members.
- Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers’ Market, a 22 week long downtown community happening with special performances, enjoyed by the market’s 6,000+ customers each season.
